Background:
Amazon buyers focused on top sellers like P&G and Mattel, leaving little capacity to engage with niche vendors. This was a particular challenge in the grocery segment where the complexities of managing products with a limited shelf-life brought a higher financial risk and overhead burden than other categories. A streamlined onboarding solution was needed to effectively expand the product catalog without the friction of traditional processes.
Objective:
Create an enterprise platform to streamline vendor onboarding, automate product sourcing, and reduce manual intervention in managing niche products and manufacturers across all categories.
Result:
Launched Amazon Vendor Express, fully automating vendor onboarding, sourcing, and management, and eliminating the need for involvement from Amazon buyers. By integrating the platform with Amazon’s existing solutions for pricing and inventory management, vendors received the same capabilities available to our largest customers. Complex tasks were simplified including inventory rotation for perishable goods, enabling dynamic pricing rules, and running A/B tests for changes to product detail pages. The product reduced operational costs, accelerated product expansion, and secured niche products previously overlooked.
