Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging
Optimizing packaging for e-commerce
Background:
Traditional packaging, designed for retail shelves, is often unsuitable for direct shipping, requiring oversized boxes and excess materials that add waste and cost. Amazon needed e-commerce packaging that’s easy to open, protective, and ready to ship as is.
Objective:
Redesign product packaging to reduce waste, enhance the unboxing experience, and streamline shipping processes.
Result:
I defined and implemented standards for Amazon’s e-commerce packaging program, optimizing efficiency and reducing costs across the supply chain. I secured CEO buy-in, influenced operations for major manufacturers, and designed algorithms that expanded the program by 140% and saved over $500M annually.
